Back in September, we said that Brooklyn trio Young Magic‘s ambient pop album Melt “allegedly came together in 10 different countries” and that we would “look into how that worked and get back to you.” It’s time to make good on that promise.
Six months later, we caught up with the band members and found out that indeed they traveled separately to 10 countries for several months before reuniting in New York to produce their debut album. Melt samples sounds ranging everywhere from Germany to Brazil and made even more worldly by the band members’ backgrounds (Melati comes from Indonesia while Michael and Isaac hail from Australia).
