Ten years into its career, Xiu Xiu undergoes another serious facelift. This time it comes in the form of a lineup switch and label trade. Jamie Stewart, the founder and backbone of the group, is joined once again by keyboardist Angela Seo. But accompanying the duo for the next release will be the Dead Science‘s Sam Mickens and Parenthetical Girls‘ Zac Pennington. The follow-up to 2010’s Dear God, I Hate Myself has yet to be titled, but the group has announced plans to release it in early 2012.

According to a press release, this will be the first album where all members are active parts of the songwriting process. The duty is usually reserved for the wildly eccentric yet fan-adored Stewart. In other news, the group has signed over to Polyvinyl, home to the band’s friends and frequent collaborators Deerhoof. Last year, Greg Saunier, Deerhoof’s drummer, lent his production talents to the critically acclaimed , and just last week, the two bands put out Almost Deerhoof, Almost Xiu Xiu, a split 7-inch in honor of Record Store Day.
