The billowy, falsetto-laden Wild Beasts will take a quick East Coast tour in July in support of its soon-to-be-released Smother (Domino), the follow-up album to 2009’s acclaimed Two Dancers.

The British quartet is riding the coattails of Two Dancers, which earned the band a Mercury Prize nomination. In the meantime, the first single from the 10-track Smother, “Albatross,” is out. It’s a wistful, lush, piano-driven thing, supported as usual by singer Hayden Thorpe’s trembling theatrical vocal lines, but it is less bouncy and more restrained than previous works. “Albatross” will come out May 2, but a special version will be released April 16, right in time for Record Store Day, for which you should probably be preparing already.
