Ohio-based WHY? is holding an auction to benefit Hands On Tokyo, helping those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan by donating one hundred percent of the profits to the organization. The trio is putting up rare test pressings of WHY? releases as well as original items like album notes and lyrics.

The biggest item to bid on is Golden Ticket #4, which will give the highest bidder their own personal theme song written and recorded by the band themselves. Golden Ticket #4 is a contest that WHY? holds every month on its website in which a random fan is chosen to receive their personal theme song with their order from the site along with some golden object and a handwritten congratulatory note.

WHY? is comprised of brothers Yoni Wolf (the original member) and Josiah Wolf and also Doug McDiarmid. The three blend hip hop with electro pop and new wave and have eight releases under the WHY? moniker, the most recent being 2009’s Eskimo Snow. After a short hiatus in which the members pursued outside projects, the three are back in the studio and touring the US throughout April.

The band’s auction house can be viewed at Josiah’s eBay account and all auctions start with a minimum bid.
