Legendary industrial dance-rock label Wax Trax! Records has been revived under the direction of Julia Nash, daughter of label co-founder Jim Nash. The label’s first new release will be the 12-inch single TKO Mindfuck from Cocksure, the project of Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks) and Jason Novak (Acumen Nation). With the rebirth of the label, Ms. Nash aims to focus on limited edition vinyl pressings, special projects from new acts and established Wax Trax! artists.
Starting out as a record store in Colorado in the 1970s, Wax Trax! soon moved to Chicago and turned into a full-fledged label, printing up legendary industrial artists such as Front 242 and KMFDM before ultimately going bankrupt in the early ’90s. It was sold to TVT Records in 1992 who released a box set of some of Wax Trax!’s biggest hits and kept the imprint alive until 2001. Both original founders—Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher—have since passed away.
Cocksure’s single, which will only be available on 200 copies of colored vinyl, will signify the new era in Wax Trax!’s history. Expect it in mid-June.
