David Bowie has let loose the second music video off of his upcoming LP, The Next Day, out March 12. Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the sweeping clip for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” follows “Where Are We Now?” and stars Bowie and actress Tilda Swinton as a married couple whose lives are haunted by an adrogenous celebrity couple—played by models Saskia De Brauw and Andrej Pejic—who wreak havoc throughout their home. One of them even seems to represent a much younger Bowie, which must represent… something? There’s a lot to unpack here.
In vintage Bowie style, the new track rides in on a pulsating backbeat and raspy guitar before enigmatic synthesizers and a thrusting bassline set in. It’ll serve as the A-side of an exclusive Record Store Day single available on April 20. Check out the video below.
