Fake album art and title for new Vampire Weekend LP

A third album from New York band Vampire Weekend is set to debut May 7 through XL. The as-yet-untitled album will be Vampire Weekend’s first since 2010’s Contra.
The announcement hit the band’s Twitter on Tuesday, with the group simply stating “LP3 complete. May 7th.” Today, fake details emerged about the album being titled Lemon Sounds, complete with art (see left), a tracklist and now an album teaser. The Team Vampire Weekend blog assures us all that this stuff is fake, which is kind of disappointing because we all had high hopes for “Trotting.”
This last Halloween, Vampire Weekend stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play a new album track, titled “Unbelievers,” and today, Team Vampire Weekend has posted a live clip of another new song. Titled “Arms,” the song was performed at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. Stream it below.

The band’s Rostam Batmanglij said he co-produced the new album with Ariel Rechtshaid, who has worked with the likes of Major Lazer, Usher and Snoop Lion. Frontman Ezra Koenig told NME that bringing someone new in, “definitely changed the dynamic. After two albums of doing everything ourselves, we’re very lucky that we found somebody who, personality-wise and vibe-wise, almost felt like they could be a member of the band.”
