Grammy winner and multi-platinum artist Tom Morello has signed to New West to release the third album of his solo project, the Nightwatchman, this summer. World Wide Rebel Songs follows up the 2008 release The Fabled City and 2007’s One Man Revolution.

The Nightwatchman project brings the folk side out of Morello, a detachment from the funk/metal roots of his previous projects. Morello took on lead vocals for the first time on One Man Revolution and has continued to do so on the preceding releases and trades in his electric axe for an acoustic one.

Most known for his part in both Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave as an original member, Morello has since gone on to create new bands and projects, including Street Sweeper Social Club with Boots Riley of the Coup. He has produced tracks across genres with the Crystal Method, Anti-Flag and P. Diddy, and even has his hand in film composing, scoring the movies Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Charlie’s Angels and more.

Aside from his musical endeavors, Morello is a well-known activist, receiving a background in politics as a Political Science major and Harvard graduate. Forming Axis Of Justice with System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian, Morello aims to bring together musicians, fans and political organizations to fight for social justice, and has taken the organization on the road with The Justice Tour. Each stop benefits a local charity with a rock show that has featured the likes of Guns N Roses, Cypress Hill, Pearl Jam and more.
