Having recently conquered television with the help of Stephen Colbert, musician and producer Jack White is branching out some more, this time with a new genre: hip-hop. Third Man, the Dead Weather, Raconteurs and former White Stripes member’s record label, is releasing “Brain” b/w “Royal Mega,” a new single from Detroit MC and producer Black Milk. Both tracks were written by Black Milk and co-produced with White. Never one to stop with just one role, White also plays guitar on “Brain” and drums on B-side track “Royal Mega.”

Black Milk, born Curtis Cross, released his solo debut album, Sound Of The City, in 2005 and has since released four more while simultaneously working as a producer with artists like the late J Dilla, Slum Village and Lloyd Banks. He first appeared on record in 2004 as part of B.R. Gunna on the Dirty District Vol. 2 compilation. “Brain” b/w “Royal Mega” is available at independent record stores, at Third Man’s website and on iTunes.
