Well here’s some less than cheerful holiday news: Bay Area skuzzers Thee Oh Sees are going on an indefinite hiatus. As Consequence of Sound points out, at the band’s show last night in San Francisco, frontman John Dwyer let this bit of information hit the crowd: “This will be the last Oh Sees show for a long while. So dig in.”
The break (let’s call it a vacation) is the result of shifting habitats: Dwyer is moving to L.A. and vocalist/keyboardist Brigid Dawson moving to Santa Cruz, while bassist Petey Dammit and drummer Mike Shoun will keep holing up in the Bay Area. The band recently released their Singles Collection Volume Three, so here’s hoping there’s still a Volume Four in our future.
