In the sad wake of the death of Beau Velasco, one half of scuzz-punk the Death Set, remaining member Johnny Siera could have called it quits. However he did something slightly more poignant, and teamed up with Daniel Walker and Jahphet Landis to create Michel Poiccard (Counter), a record dedicated to the life of their late friend. The LP, produced by Spankrock’s XXXchange, will be released February 28.

The Death Set’s new video for single “Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap” (which, apparently, is about a handshake and not the Contra code for unlimited lives), record premiered today, right before the band heads out on a tour of Australia, Siera’s home country. It features a party box truck and dudes in animal masks tossing Molotov cocktails, as you will find out below.
