The Chapel Hill, NC, indie punk rockers of Superchunk have released another Misfits cover in honor of one of their biggest musical inspirations and to celebrate All Hallows’ Eve. Last year around the same time, the group released a cover of the Misfits’ “Horror Business” online for free, and it’s looking like the band is starting a tradition with this year’s release of “Where Eagles Dare.”
As the band said in the post announcing the new cover: “Happy Halloween everyone! An omelet of disease awaits your noontime meal! In the tradition of doing something we did last year, we’ve got another Misfits cover for you. We recorded it with John Plymale at Overdub Lane. Everyone sings! So it’s festive.” And yes—Jim Wilbur, Jon Wurster, Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan all raucously shout out “I ain’t no goddamn son of a bitch/You better think about it, baby!” during the chorus of the rowdy anthem.
