Shamir Bailey is a 19-year-old from Las Vegas whose music is amazingly unclassifiable. It’s souped-up Vegas Strip disco with a self-conscious pop bent and the scattered, uncertain production of someone just messing around with Ableton. But Shamir’s voice is the crux of it all; it limbers and stretches like a wad of pink Silly Putty dipped in glitter. Last year, Shamir emailed a few songs to GODMODE labelhead Nick Sylvester and the rest is history. Now there’s an impressively ground-covering five-track EP, Northtown. It’s out officially June 11, but you can stream it in full below.
