Nouveau punks Parquet Courts are at it again with a new EP titled Tally All The Things That You Broke. The five-song effort won’t be officially released till next week (October 8) through What’s Your Rupture, but the Brooklyn-via-Texas band have already made the whole thing available to stream at their website. A fine mesh of punk and funk, the new EP comes as a strong, sometimes poppier follow-up to this year’s LP, Light Up Gold.
After just one listen, the best thing I can say is, pretty much amazing. Genre salads usually make me uncomfortable, but Parquet Courts know how to combine their various sounds in a way that invariably comes out just right. To celebrate the EP’s release (and one week ahead of time, no less), the band will play a show tonight at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Listen to the EP below.
