Sigur Rós has premiered a new video for the song “Ég Anda” off of its upcoming album, Valtari, out May 29 on XL.
The video, which features what could very well be called the world’s strangest dinner party, was created by Ragnar Kjartansson as the first of a series the band has deemed “Mystery Film Experiment.” The experiment involves giving over a dozen filmmakers a small budget with the simple instructions to choose a song on the album and create what it inspires. The videos will be revealed on Vevo.com every couple of weeks throughout the summer.
Bassist Georg Holm explained in a press release that he and the band “have literally no idea what the directors are going to come back with. None of them know what the others are doing, so it could be interesting.”
Other notable artists and directors who will contribute films to the project include Alma Har’el, John Cameron Mitchell and Ryan McGinley, Arni And Kinski and Ramin Bahrani.
