Shlohmo has combined forces with director Andrey Nikolaev to create a haunting Black Swan-esque video for “The Way U Do.” The track is the first of three on Shlohmo’s newest EP, Vacation, released earlier this year.
The video footage comes from Nikolaev’s short film Melancholy, which just happens to perfectly encompass the eerie “night-time backyard noises” of Shlohmo’s track. The smoky black-and-white images portray a bird-like woman as she perches on her cube, attempts to solve a Rubik’s Cube and tortuously dances and poses in slow-motion, all while clad in various head gear and feathered outfits. Meticulously edited by Miguel Bidarra, the delicate fades and quick cuts pick up both the hard and soft beats withing the track, generating something that is both beautiful and a little bit unnerving.
