Although their band is named after the Godzilla-like dinosaur superhero (who apparently partakes in bestiality) from the ’90s childhood cartoon series Rugrats, the members of the flashy Georgia electro-psychedelic pop group Reptar are all grown up and ready to leave school—at least for a month. Come September, the band will hit the road with Foster The People and Cults to promote the worldwide release of its Oblange Fizz Y’all EP instead of returning to college. The EP is currently available around Athens and Atlanta, GA, as well as at the band’s shows, but come July 11 MakeRecordsNotBombs and Quality Faucet will release Oblange Fizz Y’all worldwide.

In the coming months, Reptar will also hit Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, but fans from the West Coast may be disappointed that the band hasn’t scheduled any gigs west of Texas. Reptar’s rising star may lead them far and wide in the future though: NME recently ranked Reptar No. 4 in its list of 2011’s best new bands, and in the past few months the band has churned out a video along with its EP and plans to tour this fall.

After the tour, Reptar’s band members plan to continue pursuing higher education. “We are going back to school as soon as possible,” they told CMJ. “We are trying to take a bit longer of a perspective to give music and school the time and focus they deserve.”[/vimeo]
