The Highline Ballroom spanned the synthy gamut last night during the French showcase dubbed Ooh Lala fest. Selebrities started out the synth-indie party. DJ/singer Thomas Azier did the DJ dance-pop thing. Lou Doillon, from France, went a little more organic with some alt-folk, and most of the crowd seemed to be there for her. Lastly, longtime local faves, Au Revoir Simone filled the large space with their ethereal vocal and synth dreamscapes. The dark lighting made the mood all Frenchy sexy, if almost too dark sometimes. The crowd was large but fairly tame until one of the Simone gals hopped in the crowd to jump around. C’est la vie.
