On April 12 one-man whompin’ stompin’ electro-bayou band—and inventor of the oscillating drum machine lovingly called Drum BuddyQuintron will release his latest album, SUCRE DU SAUVAGE (Goner). Like ‘sausage’ but with a ‘V.’ Or maybe like “sugar of the savage” in French. Either way, the album was recorded in the beautiful New Orleans Museum Of Art as part of an on-going public gallery alongside puppetry display from electro princess and Swamp Tech cohort Miss Pussycat called “Parallel Universe: Quintron And Miss Pussycat Live In City Park.” While Quintron’s Robert Rolston was working in the museum, he was allowed to surround himself with art of his choosing. Situated among the Rodins, Warhols and Faberge collections, Rolston decided to populate his corner with paintings of 19th century ladies and a single portrait of George Washington.

The record was made half in the usual Quintron fashion—claps, chants, loops, organs, Drum Buddy, etc—but the latter half was crafted from electronic beats interwoven with field recordings taken by Rolston while he wandered the museum.

Just like their home city of New Orleans, Quintron and Miss Pussycat’s tracks are full of life and color, as can bee seen in their latest shake-down, “Freedom,” below. The pair will be on a short tour of the south east, including dates on the Bruise Cruise. They’ll and even roll in the Mardi Gras parades with the 9th Ward Marching Band, a 100 piece band directed by Quintron and Miss Pussycat.
