Grammy-winning drummer/producer Questlove will be adding another job to his long list of occupations: published author. Questlove, born Ahmir Thompson, somehow found the time to compose a memoir in between recording with the Roots, working with D’Angelo on his next album and appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show every week. The book, titled Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According To Questlove, is due out June 18 via Grand Central Publishing.
The memoir takes us through his adolescent years in West Philadelphia, his journey in the music industry and his take on hip-hop then and now. The book touches on “some of the lates, the greats, the fakes and the true originals of the music world,” according to a press release.
The “afro-filled-with-question-marks” cover has got to be one of the best book jacket designs I’ve come across, so let’s hope the content is just as creative.
