Brooklyn-based indie booking agency, Panache Booking, put on a showcase of some au courant pop. Slim Tag and U.S. Girls played solo sets, with U.S. Girl trying and succeeding in getting her skritzy-dance party vibes to brighten up a somewhat sparse crowd. Saint Rich played one of a number of shows they’re doing all over town, laying rootsy rock-boy stuff all over the stage. Canadians Yamatanka // Sonic Titan got all theatrical prog rocky. And Jacco Gardner—who seems to be slowing becoming one of the buzz acts of this year—did his second show of the night (he had an earlier set at Mercury Lounge). While this Dutch boy could use some coffee or vitamins or something, for now his youthful pretty face and hair seem enough to hold attention through his band’s psych-folk jams.
