The Orwells headed back out to the Bowery Ballroom last night, this time as headliners (previously as pre-show preps for FIDLAR). Fellow Illinoisians, Twin Peax, revved up the energy levels in the room with their own pumped twist on garage pop. The boys may have stolen the charms of some of the young females up front whose hearts were already swelling as The Orwells set inched nearer.
By the time linecheck rolled around right before The Orwells strolled on, the girls were already reaching near pandemonium phase. With charm and verve, The Orwells didn’t disappoint. Hair grabbing, stage rolling-around and pants dropping were just a few of the shenanigans lead signer Mario Cuomo shared with the band’s adoring fans. David Letterman may have introduced these boys to the mainstream recently, but it’s safe to say 2014 already held great things for them. Their live act is not to be missed, in all its unique glory. It may even have some of us believing that “Foxygen is [really] dead.”
