Gangrene, the psych-rap project of West Coast producers/rappers Oh No and the Alchemist, is set to embark on another trip down the rabbit hole. Vodka And Ayahuasca is slated for a January 24 release on Decon and is being lauded by the pair as a continuation of last year’s Gutter Water, featuring dense, sample-based landscapes dotted with tales of psychedelic evenings.
The LP also includes a bigger, badder lineup of guest spots: Kool G Rap, Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy and Rhymesayers MC Evidence will all spit verses over Gangrene’s characteristically grimy, heavy-lidded beats. The duo also promises to introduce more trippy terms into the rap lexicon, including, of course, “Ayahuasca”; for the unfamiliar, it’s a home-brewed drink containing DMT, the most powerful hallucinogen known to man.
Eager rap fans won’t have to wait much longer for a taste of Vodka And Ayahuasca: The first single, “Dump Truck” featuring Prodigy, will drop on November 21.
