Yesterday wasn’t just any Wednesday. In the minimal grime of the under-construction Williamsburg Park, New Order landed their time machine from the ’80s in front of hundreds of eager fans. The synth heroes reunited near the end of 2011, and have continued to tour sporadically since then. As the sun began to set on the park, its final rays back-lighting the band, the crowd showed their appreciation by letting go completely and dancing like a bunch of fools.
Kicking off the night was local act Holy Ghost!, who are keeping the synth dream alive in the aughts. The duo is currently gearing up for their second full-length, Dynamics. And for those of you wondering, yes, New Order played some Joy Division, including their final encore, “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”
