Last night, alt-country crooner and New Pornographers’ sometimes-frontwoman Neko Case tweeted “HEY, LOOK!!! IT’S FINALLY DONE!!” which included a link to a very short 90-second album teaser for her sixth studio album of an incredibly long name, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You (which, we have to say, sounds like something Fiona Apple would do). The upcoming album will be Neko Case’s first LP in four years since 2009’s CMJ chart-topping Middle Cyclone, but so far details like when it will be released or its track list remain under wraps.
In the Xan Aranda-directed trailer, we hear Case repeating “Where did I leave that fire?”—which Case herself confirmed as a song title on the upcoming album in an interview with NPR. While not much else is known about what’s in store for The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, we know Neko Case has festival dates in the near future. Perhaps she’ll debut some new songs on the road.
