Elephant 6 psych-pop noisemakers the Music Tapes have released “Playing ‘Evening'” a track off their latest LP Mary’s Voice, the band’s first full-length since 2008’s Music Tapes for Clouds and Tornadoes. The new album is due out in on September 4 via Merge and the band has some pretty ambitious tour plans to go with it. You can stream the swirling, sea-chanty inspired howler of a song and read more about the band’s eccentric live show below.

Last week Julian Koster and co. launched a Kickstarter page to fund a tour they’re calling “The Traveling Imaginary” which will feature music, games, stories and films, all under a tent designed by “historic tentmakers in England.” Though the group has already reached its $5,000 goal, fans can still donate and receive many of the cool gifts the band is offering including a singing saw lesson from Koster himself, a tutorial on the band’s famous 7-foot-tall metronome and various handmade paintings.
Sadly, it looks like someone already donated $3,000 to win the banjo Koster played on Neutral Milk Hotel’s In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Sorry, wealthy Elephant 6 fans— you’ll have to settle for your own singing saw.
