It’s a good thing Barclays Center has been able to fill the joint with solid concerts of late, since the Brooklyn Nets aren’t packing them in. Kuroma, a psych-etronic combo that’s the brainchild of Memphis native, Hank Sullivant, kicked things off Friday night. Then Dinosaur Jr. churned out their massive alt-rock. One might’ve wondered how this venerated trio could translate their not-exactly-action-packed live show across a pro basketball arena. But their volume and hooks could fill the Grand Canyon. So no problem here! And finally, MGMT kind of twisted the two electro and guitar-o angles of the openers into their maleable ironic art-pop. They played most of their new record and some older tracks. Some members of Kuroma joined them onsatge for a few tunes. Sean Lennon was at the show too. (That happens at a lot of big Brooklyn shows.) It was all in all, a fine early Xmas present for a fairly wide-range of alt-rock fans.
