Chillwave hero Washed Out was recently asked to make a song for the Philips Sound Of Creation campaign. According to Consequence Of Sound, his instructions were to “create an autobiographical exploration of his music influences.” The ensuing track, “The Sound Of Creation,” is something you’ll want to hear.
The Philips website sections the song into nine parts, each with a corresponding image tile. As the nature-show-narrator voice walks you through the creation process, Washed Out combines trippy martian-like synthesizers with a scraping, sandpaper rhythm, clicks, pops and drips, and he balances these found sounds with more straightforward keyboard chords.
