Morning blues anyone? Not sure how your day’s going, but if autumn’s chill is already descending on you like it is here in cloudy New York today, then this sparse, folky lullaby will feel as cozy and reassuring as a thick-hooded Snuggie. Singer/songwriter, Neil Holyoak, aka Holyoak, will release a new EP, Silver Boys, on November 5 via Epitonic, and today we’re premiering its titular track. The warm song combines an exquisite guitar-driven melody with Holyoak’s deep, soothing vocals that are filled back and forth with poetic images. It just can’t get more romantically melancholy than that.
Produced by Grammy-nominated Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Handsome Furs), the three-song EP also comes with a Leonard Cohen cover (Lover, Lover, Lover) and the previously unreleased song Laurel Leaf. With three studio albums already under his belt, the Montreal-based artist is also preparing his forthcoming LP, Rags Across The Sun, arriving early next year. The Silver Boys EP will be available as a free MP3, and you can listen to it below.
