We all remember the myriad of funny feelings we had to suffer through in our teen years. We may cringe at most of them these days, but there were some pretty exciting moments worth singing about as well. San Antonio’s The Rich Hands have taken all those nostalgic high school movie moments and tossed them into their fuzz-punk anthem, Teenager. It’s a deceptively catchy song, and the tempo shift at the end amplifies the retro-ness of it all by letting lead singer Cody Mauser show off his best coy impression of a drunk Elvis impersonator. If the band at the high school dance decided to pull a prank on the principal, this would be the soundtrack.
Teenager is the lead single off of the band’s forthcoming album Out Of My Head, which arrives May 6 via Fountain and Burger, but you can strap on you high-tops early by previewing the new song, and checking out the group’s tour dates below.
