Following the struggling optimism of “It Was My Season” and the wistful instrumentals of “Lido Pier Suicide Car,” Okkervil River have shared another cut off their upcoming album, The Silver Gymnasium. Dubbed “Stay Young,” the track takes the garage-folk Okkervil River is known for and soaks it in nostalgic country and video game electro-pop.
Stay Young pairs Will Sheff’s subdued drawl with boldly artificial synths, homestyle harmonicas and sharply twanging guitars. It’s got a glittery glam-rock feel to it, and compared to The Silver Gymnasium‘s previous tracks, it’s practically a dance jam. Stream “Stay Young” below (via Esquire).
