FKA Twigs recently stopped by Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show to discuss her upcoming Young Turks release, LP1, but the 30-minute interview covers much more ground. Twigs opens with, “I’d like to start at the very beginning,” and discusses her past as a dancer, her subsequent dissatisfaction with dancing, a love of Nina Simone and Marvin Gaye and singing at a London youth center. She says, “I think I fell in love with music when I discovered that I didn’t love dancing, I loved dancing to music.”
Lowe also plays three live in-studio performances by Twigs, covering her singles Two Weeks, Pendulum and the album cut Give Up. You can listen to the entire interview and the performances below.
