Berlin-based house artist Martin Dawson and Grzegorz Demiañczuk and Voitek Tarañczuk, who together form Catz N Dogz, have released their untitled collaborative full-length under the moniker Different Marks. The album comes six months after the tragic passing of Dawson on November 12, and includes a host of guest appearences from the likes of Ben Westbeach, Tanya Horo, Paul Randolph, and more. The album is bathed in emotive melodies, intricate production, and vocals with pop sensibilities. On working with Dawson, Tarañczuk said, “Suddenly, this whole world, an unexplored territory, had opened up to us.”
As a producer, Martin Dawson was know for his straightforward dance rhythms, firmly rooted in electronic and house music. With a solid discography of collaborations, Martin made appearances on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Hypercolour, and OFF Recordings. His debut album Sunday Smoking was a milestone in what should have been a long and bright career. Catz N Dogz are also ingrained in the electronic music scene. Championed by Claude VonStroke and his sublabel Mothership, they have been staples on many dance floors since 2007.
