Bright Eyes frontman and charming malcontent Conor Oberst is dropping a new solo album, Upside Down Mountain, this spring via Nonesuch. He’s already shared the brass-ridden tropical cut, Hundreds Of Ways, and his upbeat evolution continues with the album’s second single. Like the most recent Bright Eyes album, 2011’s The People’s Key, and 2009’s Mystic Valley Band LP, Outer South, Governor’s Ball is percussion-heavy, bright and country-infused. There’s also those horns again, some harmonies, and typical Oberst phrases like “Klonopin eyes.” Listen to Governor’s Ball below.
