It’s exactly what you’d expect from a multidimensional, avant-garde composer like Alexis Georgopoulos, aka Arp: An album that doesn’t rest on any one genre. On September 17, the New York-based musician and visual artist will deliver a hodgepodge of sounds that includes ’70s art rock, baroque pop, and musique concréte for his forthcoming release, More. The follow-up to his 2010 effort, The Soft Wave, the 12-track album will be released via Smalltown Supersound.
Last year, Arp decided to forgo his analog synthesizers for a more cinematic sound and began writing songs for the first time. Wrapped in jazzy horns, soothing guitar riffs and atmospheric piano melodies, his new single More (Blues) has Arp’s delicate voice floating above it all as he asks, “Can you let go of all your sorrow?”. Listen to (More) Blues below, and see if you can.
