Although they may not make the most avant-garde, futuristic sounds, singer-songwriters are thinking ahead of the curve—especially Kevin Devine and Eytan Oren. The two acoustic warriors have teamed up with OK Go’s Andy Ross and the Musician’s Energy Conservation Alliance (MECA) to launch an app that saves the world, one tour stop at a time.
The app, inBloom, was designed by Ross and Oren to guide touring musicians to eco-friendly restaurants, hotels, biodiesel gas stations and more. With the help of inBloom, musicians can have the know-how to keep their carbon footprints at a minimum even as they trek from city to city. Devine, who has spent years on the road himself, will be celebrating inBloom’s release at his CMJ 2011 showcase at the Highline Ballroom on October 22.
Devine began his “official support” of inBloom starting yesterday, the day the second leg of his fall tour commenced. Perhaps that means he will be using the unreleased app during those weeks, or maybe he will just talk about it ad nauseum between songs. Devine will be touring in support of inBloom and his sixth solo album, Between The Concrete And Clouds, for the rest of the month. Check below for tour dates.
