Junip – Photo by Chris Becker

Last night, the Highline Ballroom in New York City was filled with eager fans, jockeying for position so they could catch a glimpse of Junip, a project of oft-idolized singer/songwriter José González. The band was touring in support of their stellar self-titled sophomore album.
Sharing the spotlight with Junip was Barbarossa, aka James Mathé, who warmed up the crowd with his warm, milky vocals backed by minimalist, trotting synths. Our photographer Chris Becker was on hand to try to capture the seductive atmosphere on film.
