Family duo Javelin is going on a North American tour in support of its upcoming release, Canyon Candy, a collection of songs inspired by western landscapes. The tour kicks off in late May, where Javelin will be accompanied by the “Queen Diva” of bounce music, Big Freedia, for all dates.

Cousins George Langford and Tom Van Buskirk are no strangers to touring, having taken their act across the country (including last year’s CMJ Music Marathon) and abroad throughout 2010, supporting Yeasayer, Girl Talk, Matt And Kim and Major Lazer, and sharing the stage with a number of others. The two formed Javelin in 2004, getting its first release in 2009 with JAMZ N JEMZ. Their full-length debut followed, releasing No Más via Luaka Bop.

Javelin provides its take on the western frontier life through Candy Canyon, out on April 16 in time for Record Store Day, making a departure from its usual R&B dance remixes. Also in the works is an internet film of the same name that tells the tale of the lone survivor of a wagon train massacre set in the west.

Javelin’s North American tour starts on the east coast in Washington, DC, and runs untill the beginning of June, with a stop at the Midpoint Indie Summer Series with Ohio natives You You’re Awesome.
