It’s been more than a year since James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem bid us farewell at Madison Square Garden. But the ex-frontman has managed to avoid the inevitable cabin fever of retirement by continuing his work in the music scene. Kathleen Hanna told CMJ last month that Murphy was helping out on a track on the Julie Ruin‘s new album, and today came the official news that he’s adding Montreal’s Arcade Fire to his collaboration list.
The rumor that Murphy was producing the full Arcade Fire album was squelched in October, but he is helping out with “two or three songs” on the band’s upcoming LP, as said by Arcade Fire’s manager, Scott Rodger, in an interview with Music Week. For a taste of what can happen when these two sides join forces, watch Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem’s joint performance at MSG.
