Montreal indie rock quartet Islands, have announced their new LP, Ski Mask, the follow up to 2012’s lauded A Sleep And A Forgetting. Due out in September via frontman Nick Thorburn’s label Manqué, Ski Mask promises to continue Islands’ consistent penchant for peculiar pop songs.
Islands accompanied their announcement with Ski Mask’s first single, “Wave Forms.” Despite Ski Mask’s creepy album cover, “Wave Forms'” lush instrumentation, steel drums, reggae bass part, and infectious hook elicit tropical vibes, inspiring daydreams of sunbathing on some remote Caribbean island rather than being torn apart by the ambiguous figures depicted above. Check out “Wave Forms,” along with Ski Mask’s tracklist and Islands’ upcoming tour dates, below.
