Hull is a band that allows its music to speak for itself, with minimal between-song banter or instrument changes. The players made the most of their set, giving fans a chance to hear the new album before they could get their hands on copies. At this particular show, the normally five-member band brought in guest vocalists as well as additional electronic samplers, adding even more depth to its already massive sound.
Although their songs were heavy and intense, the band members could not have been more gracious or friendly. They milled around the venue before the show, talking to fans and friends, and they thanked the crowd for coming out before even starting their first song. Even metal dudes have manners.
Hull will be playing the CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival at the TeePee Showcase, Friday, October 21, at Union Pool in Brooklyn.
