“How Could You Know” is a good title here, like how could you know that this breezy, shimmering, post-Shins sound comes not from some crew of bird t-shirted and bearded northwesterners but from a Brooklyn band, one that actually originates from Australia. No matter the locale, the mood and movement from this High Highs‘ song is well grounded in its lovely jangle, a misty vibe that harkens back to their homeland’s classic alt-rock heroes, the Church.

In the attendant video, a dejected lad tries his best to sing the song at a karaoke bar, the cheeky beach-strolling scenes of the karaoke video slowly become genuinely lovely as the song subtly soars higher, just as the karaoke video sunset keeps setting. Nice contrast, nice clip.
