The clever Canadian quartet Metric has released the first official single, “Youth Without Youth, off its upcoming album, Synthetica.
The premiere also features commentary by band members Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw in which they discuss the origins of the “’70s sleaze” drenched track as what started as a one verse story of “the decaying social state through the eyes of a depraved child.” The 70’s sleaze in the song is, according to Haines, “Always a good way to disguise any kind of political statement.”
