Baltimore sludge-punk quartet Dope Body is back, and slimier than ever. The noise-spazz group will play a spate of tour dates, including a SXSW gig among punk mainstays Titus Andronicus, Thee Oh Sees and Andrew WK. Loop-loving experimental guitarchitect Dustin Wong will join them for the remainder of their upcoming shows around the East coast and South.
In advance of their May 22 sophomore release, Natural History on Drag City, Dope Body offers this heavy-as-death new single, “Lazy Slave.” Both the band’s fistfull-of-mudpies instrumentals and Andrew Laumann’s manic vocals sound sharper and more deliberate here than on last year’s debut Nupping, with the feisty frontman putting on some sort of awesome David Lee Roth as the voice of Rock-a-Doodle impression. Head-bang to it below.
