Any plans for the weekend? No? Don’t fret, on Friday and Saturday (Octotber 25-26) producer Ahmir Thompson, aka Questlove, will take over BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House with Electronium: The Future Was Then. Conducted by Grammy-nominated Andrew Cyr, the event is an homage to the pioneers in the electronic music scene between 1948 and 1979, and will feature performances by Jeremy Ellis, Kirk Douglas, How To Dress Well, Rahzel, Sonnymoon, and Metropolis Ensemble. Pretty exciting.
The show will be a live electronic music mash up of seminal electronic and archival recordings with music from technological innovators like Stevie Wonder and George Clinton, or, in other words, a dance party. And we’ve got two pairs of tickets to Saturday’s perfromance to give away. Enter below for a chance to win them and watch Questlove on the origins of electronic music, Jimi Hendrix, and retro-futurism.
