Labor Day could have been spent three ways: at home, at the beach or at the Fool’s Gold Day Off party. The Brooklyn record label celebrated its third year of Day Off with a combo of hip-hop and dance DJs spinning their very best. The climax of the show? Picture Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J spilling a bottle of Bombay Sapphire everywhere as the crowd pressed the barricades for a sip.
Other highlights included a guest appearance by DJ Mehdi, Dave 1 of Chromeo throwing younger brother A-Trak‘s jacket into the crowd and Juicy J’s unveiling of this year’s secret special guest: Harlem’s ASAP Rocky. Detroit horrorcore rapper Danny Brown made his debut performance as a member of Fool’s Gold, shifting the show’s gears for a moment to leave his signature on the evening. The night ended with a crowded stage as Juicy J’s friends made an impromptu dance floor out of it. Those who hadn’t had enough moseyed on over to the after party, which we’re told lasted until the wee hours, undoubtedly starting off attendees with a complete and balanced breakfast that morning.
