Playing their first of two sold-out shows on Friday evening, Cut Copy provided a mix of old hits and selections from their recent album, Free Your Mind, for a great amalgam of dance music. A Cut Copy show could serve as a lesson in multimedia: they are skilled in the art of crafting both an atmosphere of movement and music to move to.
At Terminal 5, the Melbourne outfit put on a live show that you could feel, with lights and bass thumping together as one. And after one of the worst winters in recent memory, just a day after the official start of spring, the concert couldn’t have come at a better time. Sometimes the simple joys of summer are exactly what a body needs, and Cut Copy seems to understand that concept perfectly. With every body in motion, the crowd felt a little warmer and no one felt left out in the cold.
