Following with the same theme as the piano-rap tracks off his last album, Ivory Tower, Chilly Gonzales has just announced what he claims will be the first all-orchestral rap album, titled The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales. The album is set to drop June 7 via Arts And Crafts, but while we wait for that, a medley from the album has been made available for download here.

For this bizarre experiment in merging the distant worlds of rap and classical, Gonzales collaborated with his film-composer brother Christophe Beck to arrange the sea of percussion, winds and strings. Gonzales’ undemanding flow comes off feeling more like operatic monologues with musical accompaniment. However, the anticipated aspect of The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales definitely lies within the integration of the classical elements rather than Gonzales’ lyrical proficiency.
