The Blow played Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn last night. “Toyed with” might be the better term, as singer Khaela Maricich often stared blankly into the audience between her thumping techno-pop songs while telling odd, random, but always entertaining stories that may have been related to songs from their new album, or may have had nothing to do with anything. She’d often speak directly to Melissa Dyne, the other half of The Blow, as Dyne stood in the middle of the audience and manipulated Khaela’s voice, varied the intensity of the lights or started the beats for each song. At one point Maricich crowd-surfed over to Dyne when she sang True Affection, a crowd favorite.
