In anticipation of its 25th anniversary, the quintessential punk band Bikini Kill, a pioneer of the riot grrrl movement in the ’90s, is forming its own record label, Bikini Kill Records, to reissue its entire discography.
This fall, the band will begin physically re-releasing each Bikini Kill album one at a time, starting with its self-titled EP, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its original release, and its original demo tape, featuring some rare and unheard songs. Already, the band has re-released all of its albums digitally on the label, along with the works of other bands like the Frumpies and Casual Dots. Bikini Kill is also raiding its archives to snag some special rarities, like photographs, practice tapes and live recordings, to add on to the albums when they are released.
